CAT 2014 New Marking Scheme

The Common Admission Test 2014 (CAT 2014) exam is going to be held from November 16 and November 22, 2014.

CAT 2014 exam will see a a bit different criteria like the duration of the CAT examination is increased by 30 minutes, increasing the overall time to be 170 minutes. Instead of the previously 30 questions, there will be 50 questions in each section. Candidates can start and take any section first and can also switch over from one section to another. An on-screen timer will notify the candidates of the remaining minutes for the test.

Some of the marking scheme changes in the CAT 2014 exam is given below:

Three points awarded for each correct answer. The total maximum score in CAT 2014 will be 300 and the total number of questions will be 100 CAT exam comprises of two sections of 50 questions each namely Quantitative Ability (QA) and Data Interpretation (DI) and the other section includes Verbal Ability (VA) and Logical Reasoning (LR).

One point deducted for each incorrect answer, meaning one-third negative marking.

No penalty for questions left unanswered. So Candidates should leave the question unanswered if not sure of the answer.

The Question Palette panel on the right side will display the status of the questions in four colors as mentioned below:
Green - Answered question
Red - Unanswered question
White - Question not viewed
Violet - Question marked for review

While answering the questions candidates can press save and next button to save their answers and move to the next question or they can clear the already selected answer option for the given question. If a candidate want to devote some more time to the questions but wishes to get back to them at the end, mark for review & next button can be pressed. They will also be prompted at the time of submitting the test about these questions.

The Submit button will be enabled only upon completion of test time. When the Submit button is clicked, the system will prompt to confirm submission. The system will also display a summary of the status of the questions attempted by the candidate.
