The Council of Scientific And Industrial Research (CSIR), Human Resource Development Group has released the Joint CSIR UGC NET December 2017 notification. UGC NET December 2017 registration started from August 22.

Educational qualification:
Candidates must have Master of Science (MSc) or equivalent degree/Integrated BS-MS/BS-4 years/BE/BTech/BPharma/MBBS from a recognised university or institute.

Candidates having only a Bachelor's degree are not eligible for Lectureship

Age limit:
JRF NET: The maximum age of the candidates will be 28 years
LS NET: There is no upper age limit

UGC NET 2017 Paper pattern:
The UGC NET December 2017 exam consist of 200 multiple choice questions based on life sciences, earth, atmospheric, ocean and planetary sciences, mathematical sciences, chemical sciences and physical sciences.

UGC NET December 2017 exam will be held at the following centres:

Bangalore, Bhavnagar, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Guntur, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jammu, Jamshedpur, Jorhat, Karaikudi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Nagpur, Pilani, Pune,Raipur, Roorkee, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, Udaipur and Varanasi.

UGC NET December 2017 Exam Important dates:
Online application process begins: August 23
Application fees deposit: September 15
Last date to submit online application form: September 16
Last date of receipt of hard copy of the application form at the exam unit (except remote areas): September 23
Last date of receipt of hard copy of the application form at the Examination Unit in remote areas: October 3
Tentative date of publication of list of registered candidates: November 17
Issue of UGC NET December 2017 Admit Card/Hall ticket: First week of December

UGC NET December 2017 exam is held for determining the eligibility of the Indian National candidates for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) NET and for determining eligibility for appointment of Lecturers (NET) in certain subject areas falling under the faculty of Science and Technology. The award of Junior Research Fellowship (NET) to successful candidates will depend on their finding admission/placement in a university/ national laboratory/institution of higher learning and research, as applicable.

UGC NET December 2014: Eligibility Criteria

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) online application process started on October 15 for National Eligibility Test (NET) December 2014 on behalf of the UGC. Eligible candidates can apply online before November 15, 2014. The date of the NET Dec 2014 examination is December 28, 2014.

UGC NET Eligibility Criteria 2014:
Candidates who have secured at least 55 per cent (50 per cent for reserved category) marks (without rounding off) in Master's Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognised by UGC are eligible for this test.
ii) Candidates who have appeared OR will be appearing at the qualifying Master's degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited OR candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this test
iii) The Ph.D. degree holders whose Master's level examination had been completed by September 19, 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5 per cent in aggregate marks (i.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in NET.

Age limit:
(i) Junior Research Fellowship: Not more than 28 years as on December 1, 2014.
 (ii) Assistant Professor: There is no upper age limit for Assistant Professor.

NET/SLET/SET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professors in Universities/Colleges/Institutions, provided, however, candidates, who are or have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/ Colleges/ Institutions.
ii)      The candidates who have passed the UGC/CSIR JRF examination prior to 1989 are also exempted from appearing in NET.
iii)      The candidates who have cleared the State Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC for eligibility for Assistant Professor held prior to Dec 1, 2002 are exempted from appearing in NET, being eligible to apply for Assistant Professor anywhere in India.
