UGC NET December 2014: Eligibility Criteria

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) online application process started on October 15 for National Eligibility Test (NET) December 2014 on behalf of the UGC. Eligible candidates can apply online before November 15, 2014. The date of the NET Dec 2014 examination is December 28, 2014.

UGC NET Eligibility Criteria 2014:
Candidates who have secured at least 55 per cent (50 per cent for reserved category) marks (without rounding off) in Master's Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognised by UGC are eligible for this test.
ii) Candidates who have appeared OR will be appearing at the qualifying Master's degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited OR candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this test
iii) The Ph.D. degree holders whose Master's level examination had been completed by September 19, 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5 per cent in aggregate marks (i.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in NET.

Age limit:
(i) Junior Research Fellowship: Not more than 28 years as on December 1, 2014.
 (ii) Assistant Professor: There is no upper age limit for Assistant Professor.

NET/SLET/SET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professors in Universities/Colleges/Institutions, provided, however, candidates, who are or have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/ Colleges/ Institutions.
ii)      The candidates who have passed the UGC/CSIR JRF examination prior to 1989 are also exempted from appearing in NET.
iii)      The candidates who have cleared the State Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC for eligibility for Assistant Professor held prior to Dec 1, 2002 are exempted from appearing in NET, being eligible to apply for Assistant Professor anywhere in India.

Eligible candidates can apply online before November 15, 2014 for the UGC NET 2014 December examination. The NET 2014 Dec examination will be held on December 28, 2014.

Step I:
Minimum marks to be obtained in NET for considering a candidate for the award of JRF and eligibility for Assistant Professor:

The candidates are required to obtain following minimum marks separately in Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III as given below:

Step II:
Amongst those candidates who have cleared step I, a merit list will be prepared subject-wise and category-wise using the aggregate marks of all the three papers secured by such candidates.

Step III:
Top 15% candidates (for each subject and category), from the merit list mentioned under step II, will be declared NET qualified for eligibility for Assistant Professor only.

Step IV:
A separate merit list for the award of JRF will be prepared from amongst the NET qualified candidates figuring in the merit list prepared under step III.

UGC National Eligibility Test December 2014: Paper Pattern

Central Board Secondary education (CBSE) online application process has already been started for National Eligibility Test (NET) December 2014 on behalf of UGC.

Candidates can apply online for the NET December 2014 exam before November 15, 2014. UGC NET December 2014 Exam Date is on December 28, 2014 to be conducted in 79 subjects at 87 selected NET Coordinating Institutions across India.

UGC NET 2014 Paper Pattern:
The NET Exam comprises of three papers, all having objective type questions in nature to be held in two separate sessions.

UGC NET 2014 Paper-I is of general nature, assessing the teaching/research aptitude of  the candidate. A candidate's reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness skills would be tested. 60(sixty) multiple choice questions of 2 marks each will be given, out of which the candidate would be required to answer any 50(fifty).

If any candidates attempts more than 50 questions, only the first 50 questions would be evaluated.

UGC NET 2014 Paper-II  consists of 50 objective type compulsory questions based on the subject selected by the candidate. Each question carries 2 marks.

UGC NET 2014 Paper-III consists of 75 objective type compulsory questions based on the subject selected by the candidate. Each question carries 2 marks.

NET 2014 Paper -II and Paper -III questions are compulsory which covers entire syllabus (including all electives, without options).

The candidate will have to mark the responses for questions of Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III on the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) Sheet provided alongwith the test booklet. Candidates who successfully qualify for the award of Junior Research Fellowship can pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation or in a related subject and are also eligible for Assistant Professor.

UGC NET 2014 December Exam Date

UGC NET 2014 December Exam Date for second session is Dec 28, 2014

The Central Board of Secondary Education will conduct the National Eligibility Test (NET) 2014 for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for Assistant Professor or Junior Research Fellowship position or both in Indian universities and colleges on behalf of UGC on Dec 28, 2014.

CBSE conducts NET exam twice a year and this time in December 2014, NET exam will be conducted NET in 79 subjects at 87 selected NET Institutions in India. NET 2014 June exam was held on Sunday i.e. June 29 and the results for this NET exam will soon be announced.

UGC provide the necessary experts and their experience to prepare the UGC NET 2014 question papers to CBSE. Over 33,000 candidates appeared in the UGC NET 2014 examinations in June session.

Candidates successfully qualifying the UGC NET December 2014 exam for Junior Research Fellowship can pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation or in a related subject and are also eligible for Assistant Professor. The universities, institutions, IITs and other organizations may select the JRF awardees for whole time research work in accordance with the procedures.

The performance of the candidate in all the three papers of UGC NET December 2014 exam will determine the award of JRF and eligibility for Assistant Professor or both. But those candidates who only qualify for Assistant Professor will not be considered for award of JRF.
